On Sunday, July 10, 2022, Osun State governorship aspirants took the stage for a debate ahead of July 16, 2022, Governorship Elections in the State. The Osun governorship debate is organized and supported by UKaid and the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room to interrogate aspirants on their plans and aspiration for the State.
During the debate, each aspirant had the opportunity to share plans on issues around security, education, budget servicing, debt profile, investment, etc, and ambitions if elected.
The Executive Direct, Inclusive Friends Association, Grace Jerry, applaud the organizers of the debate yet cautions the organizers for excluding persons with disabilities in the program planning and agenda.
“Disability inclusion should be deliberate and pragmatic. Idealized as a common practice and a norm in society. Programs of this magnitude should carry citizens with disabilities along. There was no priority nor any form of recognition of the PWDs communities.
