VOTEability campaign hits 11,661 PWDs registrants as Voters Registration Ends

In the last push for increased registration of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Inclusive Friends Association (IFA) launched the #VOTEability Campaign to mobilize and register more PWDs CVR exercise before the July 31st, 2022 dateline.
The campaign which commenced on 22, July 2022 and ended on 31st July 2022, recorded a cumulative increase in PWD registrants from 75,422 to 87,083 who completed registration within 9 days of the campaign.

The campaign adopted a community-based approach to set up voter registration centers across the 6 Area Councils in the FCT to prioritize persons with disabilities who avail to register for their permanent voters card. The campaign got a nationwide reach through the electoral commission and other Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs).
On Tuesday last week, the campaign also sensitized residents and mobilized PWDs for the exercise through the #VOTEability campaign rally from Berger Bus park to Wuse Market in the FCT for extensive engagements.

IFA commends the service and cooperation of INEC for prioritizing the communities of persons with disabilities and subscribing to the disability-inclusive practice.IFA also appreciates the support from the Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), the Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), and the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities who made the project a success.
