Expression of Interest: Call for Consultant to Facilitate the Inclusive Education Capacity Building Workshop

The Inclusive Friends Association (IFA) is seeking the services of a qualified consultant to conduct a two-day capacity-building workshop for teachers working with children with disabilities in primary schools in Abuja.

Background:
IFA is committed to promoting the inclusion and participation of all Persons with Disabilities and dismantling social injustices that diminish their human rights. In line with our mission, we recently conducted research on the inclusivity of structures, systems, and learning environments for children with disabilities in primary schools in Abuja. The research revealed a significant capacity gap among teachers in understanding and implementing inclusive education practices.

Objectives:
The primary objective of this consultancy is to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to create a more inclusive classroom environment and effectively engage with children with disabilities. Specific objectives include enhancing teachers’ understanding of inclusive education principles, equipping them with practical strategies, and providing a simplified classroom teaching guide.

Scope of Work:
The consultant’s responsibilities will include reviewing research findings, developing training materials, preparing a simplified classroom teaching guide, and facilitating a two-day capacity-building workshop. The workshop will cover various aspects of inclusive education, including interactive sessions and group activities.

Deliverables:
The consultant is expected to deliver the following:

  • Training materials, including interactive slides and a simplified classroom teaching guide.
  • A two-day workshop agenda.
  • Evaluation forms for participants to provide feedback.
  • A comprehensive workshop report highlighting key outcomes and recommendations for future interventions.

Duration:
The capacity-building workshop will be conducted over a period of two consecutive days.

Timeline:
The workshop is expected to take place within the second week of November 2023 at a location to be determined by IFA.

How to Apply:
Interested and qualified consultants are invited to submit their applications before  Monday, October 16th 2023. Applications should include the following:

  • A detailed curriculum vitae (CV) highlighting relevant experience.
