IFA Advocates for Inclusive Skills Development in Nasarawa

The Inclusive Friends Association (IFA), in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission, recently engaged in a high-impact advocacy visit to the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute in Lafia. The visit, led by IFA and the Commission, aimed to advance inclusive skills development and employment opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Nasarawa State.

During the meeting, the executive director of the institute, Dr. Daniel Ewuga, committed to integrating PWDs into the center’s recruitment cycle in line with the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Law’s 5% employment quota. Additionally, the institution pledged to collaborate with IFA in providing internship placements for PWDs trained in digital literacy and to modify training centers and curriculums to enhance accessibility and inclusivity. A key highlight of the visit was a facility tour to assess accessibility levels and identify areas for improvement.

IFA remains committed to bridging the digital divide and fostering economic empowerment for PWDs. The association looks forward to strengthening workplace inclusivity through training and strategic partnerships.
