IFA Strengthens Advocacy ties with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs

The Inclusive Friends Association (IFA) yesterday, March 11, 2025, paid an advocacy visit to the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, to discuss collaborative efforts in advancing inclusive humanitarian response for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria.

 

 

During the meeting, the Honourable Minister warmly welcomed the IFA delegation and acknowledged the organization’s longstanding efforts in championing the rights and inclusion of PWDs across various sectors, including inclusive education, social protection, economic empowerment, governance, and humanitarian support.

 

 

The discussions centered on strategic collaborations between the Ministry and IFA, particularly in mobilizing PWDs for government interventions and ensuring their inclusion in key national initiatives. The Honourable Minister affirmed the importance of IFA’s role in bridging the gap between the government and the disability community, emphasizing that their engagement will be instrumental in shaping inclusive policies and programs.

  • Recognition of IFA’s work: The Minister acknowledged IFA’s significant contributions to disability advocacy and assured the organization of continued support.

  • Inclusion in the Upcoming Disability Summit: The Minister directed his team to ensure IFA’s participation in the forthcoming Disability Summit, tasking the organization with mobilizing other Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and community members to take part in the event.
  • Follow-Up on Partnership Opportunities: The Minister mandated his team to review IFA’s presentation and explore potential areas for collaboration, demonstrating the Ministry’s commitment to fostering an inclusive society.

 

This advocacy visit marks a significant milestone in IFA’s ongoing efforts to promote accessibility, rights, and inclusion for PWDs in Nigeria.
